In My Room - Original Painting
Description
Created for the Exhibition: The Boy With A Leg Named Brian: Memoirs by Pete McKee
The sanctuary of the bedroom: a corner of the world you can make for
yourself and call your own. The poster or the sticker on the wall – a token
of your identity. If you were lucky, you’d have something to play music on
and escape the noise of the outside world and family life. Submerge yourself
in an alternative reality or just lie there and be bored, procrastinate while
your homework stays undone, daydream about a different life, or use your
time to conjure up an excuse for why you didn’t do that homework.
I went through phases: having my own room, then having to share with one
of my brothers, and then finally getting a room of my own again.
I even did some interior design at one point. I painted a jungle scene around
the walls and bought a giant rattan Peacock high-back chair. Batemoor’s
own Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
