Sea Breeze

'We all need to let loose sometimes but can forget to do this when going through the motions of our daily routines. 'Sea Breeze' is a reminder and a celebration of the freedom felt when we allow ourselves ‘time out’. I wanted to represent motion in this work – moving forward and ‘just being off’. I chose a classic, red, open-top sports car to represent these ideas. The horizon stretching out in the distance represents the multiple possibilities that lay before this character as they leave their worries behind. I chose to paint them wearing a headscarf, like Grace Kelly would have worn back in the day, to add a further touch of glamour and to reference those Hollywood scenes where the protagonists drive off into the sunset.'
