Rites Of Passage - Original Painting
Description
Created for the Exhibition: The Boy With A Leg Named Brian: Memoirs by Pete McKee
One day, there I was running around the estate, playing football,
scrambling up walls, jumping off garages and building dens, when – Boom!
– I heard a song that stopped me in my tracks and turned my world upside
down. It made me question who I was and what I was doing. It made me
want to discover who they were and what they wore. It made me ask how
I could be like them. It made me thirst for more: who else was like them?
Then I discovered other kids like me who felt the same: I belonged to
something – and that something belonged to me.
