Created for the Exhibition: A Boy with a Leg Named Brian: Memoirs by Pete McKee

'At some point in the ’70s there was a trend to get your name printed on the back of your Harrington jacket. This was mostly a girl thing, especially the hard ones, who you didn’t want to mess with.

There was a stall in Sheaf Market where you could take your knock-off Harrington and get your name iron-transferred onto the back in felt-effect lettering. A display of classic ’70s girls names were there for all to see: Tina, Julie, Trace, Kaz, Bev, Donna, Sandra, Keeley and Shelle, to name but a few.
