Got Got Got Got... - Original Painting
Description
Created for the Exhibition: The Boy With A Leg Named Brian: Memoirs by Pete McKee
The competitive world of Panini sticker book collecting is all wonder and
excitement to begin with. There’s the thrill of getting star players such
as Birmingham City’s Trevor Francis or Chelsea’s Peter Bonetti, the club
crest stickers in an exotic material, or the joy of acquiring life-changing
information such as the capacity of Villa Park* or the last time Huddersfield
Town won anything.† But ultimately, after weeks of collecting, the end of
the season finds you with handfuls of swaps, thirty Swindon players, five
Derby County badges, a cast of unknown big-haired footballers and blokes
who look like your dad. So you gather round at playtime and sift through
each other’s cards, repeating the mantra.
Got … got … got … got … got … got … not got … got …
And you’re still nowhere near completing.
