'All caravan sites have names that promise something they can seldom deliver. Ours for this break was called SUNNY VIEW FARM. In reality, the sun was hidden behind a large slurry tank on an industrial pig farm next to the site. Within seconds of opening the caravan door, my dad was sent stomping off to the site office with a thick ear and his masculinity demolished. With much pleading and his hand forced deep into his pocket, my dad saved his marriage and our holiday by sorting out an alternative caravan.'
