February-March 2011
Renowned music photographer Andy Willsher celebrated 20 years in the business with ‘The Black and White Collection’ exhibition at A Month of Sundays. The works on display included photographs of iconic artists Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Iggy Pop, Morrissey, Radiohead and Oasis, as well as some of our local heroes such as Richard Hawley and the Arctic Monkeys.
The exhibition was a must-see for music and photography lovers alike and Pete McKee, a huge music fan himself, was proud to show The Black and White Collection in his gallery.
‘I have always included musical influences in my own work so it is great to be able display some fantastic photography from the bands we all love. Andy is a superb photographer who can really capture that perfect moment, from the high pressure headline slots at major festivals to just having a laugh in the studio.’
Whether a fan of U2 or the Arctic Monkeys (or both) there was something for every music lover in this exhibition and Andy was keen to bring it to Sheffield, the home of so many music legends.
"It’s a real honour to be able to bring the collection to Sheffield as the City itself has got so much musical heritage and over my career I’ve photographed so many Sheffield bands ranging from Heaven 17 to The Longpigs and the aforementioned Arctic Monkeys."
