Pete McKee’s Brighton pop-up gallery

McKee Brighton

Friday 14th - Monday 17th June 10am - 6pm
ONCA, 14 St George's Pl, Brighton BN1 4GB

We are so excited to announce further details on Pete’s first pop-up gallery in Brighton, located in the vibrant North Laine. The pop-up gallery will feature a selection of classic McKee artwork, specially chosen for this event, as well as new original paintings and limited edition pieces. This is a great opportunity for fans and those new to Pete’s work to explore this artwork and the stories behind them.

Inspired by this wonderful city, Pete has created a new Brighton themed tourist poster. This print combines the artist’s love of traditional railway posters with his individual take on this fabulous city. The posters will be available to purchase from both the gallery in Brighton and the McKee website at 10am on Friday the 14th of June. The first 50 posters at the Brighton location will be signed by Pete, so make sure you get down there!

Also available from the pop-up gallery will be a range of brand new products from Pete’s Spring/Summer collection. The artist’s latest book, ‘Council Skies’, will also be available to purchase from the gallery. This exciting new book offers the most comprehensive overview of Pete’s work since he began painting in 2004. Featuring over seventy illustrations of the artist’s work, plus a collection of sketches, many previously unseen, this publication offers the most in-depth insight into McKee’s artistic career.

To celebrate the release of his new book, Pete will hold a book signing at the Brighton pop-up location from 10am to 12pm on Saturday the 15th of June. On the same day, at 6.30pm, Pete will be giving a talk on ‘Council Skies’, followed by a Q & A, in The Old Courtroom at Brighton Museum. During this talk Pete will discuss the paintings featured in this publication. Learn about how he makes his paintings come to life as he discusses his artistic technique, places and characters that feature in his work and how he developed his unique style.

Tickets for this event are free and need to be booked in advance on EventBrite here.
