Gallery Supervisor

Job Type: Full-time

Working week: 35 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday

Salary: £19,000 pa

Job Description

The gallery supervisor will be the face of the gallery, providing excellent customer service to customers in-store, over the phone, by email and social media. They will also be responsible for processing both in-store and online orders.

Key Responsibilities

  • To supervise and run the gallery
  • To supervise the part-time member of staff working during our busy Saturday hours
  • To provide excellent customer service at all times to customers visiting the gallery, over the phone, by email or social media
  • To familiarise oneself with all of the art prints and products sold at the gallery
  • To process both customer orders placed at the gallery and on our online system
  • To package orders for delivery, ensuring they are wrapped securely and presented neatly
  • To attend staff meetings, keeping up to date with gallery news enabling the gallery supervisor to provide customers with gallery news
  • To keep the gallery well stocked up i.e. ordering items such as packaging/printing materials when needed
  • To keep the gallery looking well presented at all times i.e keeping products well stocked, making gallery labels and undertaking general housekeeping
  • Doing occasional DIY to maintain the gallery i.e painting wall, hanging pictures, refilling holes in the walls
  • Printing out art prints for customers using Photoshop, making sure the printer is stocked up with paper and ink
  • To open and lock up the gallery, cashing up at the end of the day
  • Taking out the bins on a weekly basis

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times
  • Previous experience of working in a managerial or supervisor role
  • Must have an excellent telephone manner
  • Good writing skills with experience corresponding by email in an professional context
  • Computer literate with an ability to use Macs and pick up new systems quickly
  • Excellent organisational skills with great attention to detail
  • An ability to show initiative and a willingness to learn
  • A friendly, confident and outgoing personality with the ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Must be trustworthy with the ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • Must possess good listening skills and the ability to take direction well

Desirable

  • Experience of using Photoshop
  • An interest in the arts
  • A knowledge of Pete McKee’s art

Retail Assistant

Job Type: part-time

Working week: one day a week, every Saturday

Pay: £9.00 per hour

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic retail assistant to work one day a week every Saturday. Occasionally there will be the opportunity to work overtime i.e. covering members of staff taking holiday and helping out at external events. The retail assistant will provide excellent customer service to customers visiting the gallery, providing support for the gallery supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide excellent customer service to customers visiting the gallery and over the phone
  • To support the gallery supervisor during the busy Saturday hours
  • To make sure the gallery is well presented and stocked up with products throughout the day, providing general housekeeping when needed
  • To become familiar with the art prints and products
  • To use the online system to locate customer orders

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working in customer service with an understanding of how to use card machines and tills
  • The retail assistant will be friendly, trustworthy, confident and outgoing, with an ability to provide excellent customer service at all times
  • An ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Experience of using a Mac
  • Well organised with a good eye for detail
