VIVA LA NAN - A new double exhibition by Pete McKee

VIVA LA NAN!

A new double exhibition by Pete McKee, celebrating the beloved nans of his childhood, is opening later this year in Harrogate and Sheffield. There will be over 100 new artworks in a tribute to Nans, grandmothers, grandmas, grannies, grans, nanas…

Viva La Nan will feature original pencil sketches and ink drawings direct from the studio of McKee, all of them are affectionate studies of Pete's most-loved characters.

"I wanted to create an exhibition celebrating the power of nans and the love we have for them. It shows the beauty and dignity of women who have lived through hardship and pain; women who have worked and toiled and managed to raise us on next to nothing.

"I consider my nans as iconic figures to be put on a pedestal and worshipped for the mighty women that they are." – Pete McKee

This heart-warming collection will be shown across two venues with each having its own unique collection on display:

RedHouse Gallery, Harrogate
27th September – 4th October

The McKee Gallery, Sheffield
11th – 12th October

Nans Bus Trip: join us on a Yorkshire road trip to visit both exhibitions with our very own "McKee Travel". Spaces are limited and further details will follow in the coming weeks.  Please send us a direct message or email to be the first to find out about this and other exclusive events.
