To celebrate the worlds most famous cycle race coming to Yorkshire in just a few weeks time, Pete has created a new series of work to celebrate Yorkshire and two wheels.
The ‘King of the Hills’ collection features two new McKee prints, a cycling, a LTD edition bottle of Henderson’s Relish and a very special one off hand painted road bike made by Sheffield based bike manufacture Planet X.
“As a lover of all sport i'm really excited about Le Tour, one of the biggest sporting events in the world coming to my county and whizzing through the streets of Sheffield, though I'm not sure how the cyclists are going to negotiate our infamous potholes.
“To celebrate the event i thought i'd do a very northern interpretation of the Gallic sporting showpiece, with our very own Yorkshire peloton and as every sheffield cyclist will testify, an homage to that ultimate athletic achievement of negotiating the city’s many hills.
“The last racer I owned was a yellow 10 gear Raleigh javelin from Kays club book, which I managed to destroy by replacing the racing handlebars for a pair of cow horn handlebars and doing wheelies and Evel Knievel jumps over handmade ramps, thus eventually bending the front forks with some 20 weeks still left to pay on the bike. I quietly hid the bike under the stairs and hoped my dad would never find out.
“Vive Le Yorkshire, who will be crowned the ‘King Of The Hills’?”
